PERRIS, Calif. – Two skydivers have been critically injured in a mid-air collision over a Southern California airport, just two weeks after another pair of jumpers was killed there in a similar accident.
Perris Valley Skydiving manager Dan Brodsky-Chenfeld said Friday's crash was a mid-air collision between two experienced skydivers about 200 feet above the ground.
He said both victims were taken to a hospital by ambulance and are in surgery.
On March 31, two skydiving instructors were killed when they collided about 300 feet in the air and their parachutes deflated.
Friday's accident occurred a day before a planned memorial jump — known as an ash dive — to honor the victims of the previous crash.
