Police checking suspicious item on Miami flight

MIAMI – A bomb squad is investigating an American Airlines flight from Brazil that landed in Miami.

Miami International Airport spokesman Greg Chin says police are investigating what he called "something suspicious" on Flight 930 from Sao Paolo. Miami-Dade Police confirmed a bomb squad had been sent to the plane. No further details were immediately available.

The flight arrived at 8:30 a.m. Monday.

Chin says the flight's passengers have deplaned and are going through customs. He says the gate where the plane arrived and two adjacent gates have been closed off, but the terminal remains open.

A message left for an American Airlines spokesman was not immediately returned.
