Police Bust Ring Allegedly Smuggling Drug-Laced Children's Coloring Books

Three inmates and two others were caught red-handed by New Jersey cops after they were allegedly found smuggling drugs into jail by painting substances onto children’s pictures.

Police told the New York Daily News that the group tried to dupe Cape May County Jail guards by dissolving the drugs into a paste for coloring use. They painted drawings of Disney characters such as Snow White and Cinderella -- and in two instances labeled them “To Daddy” -- hoping authorities would think they were done by a child.

Colorings submitted to a drug testing lab brought back positive results for Suboxone, a drug used to treat addictions to pain-killers.

Authorities uncovered the operation through an anonymous tip.

Members of the group were charged with conspiracy, attempt to commit a crime, attempt to distribute a controlled substance and intent to distribute a controlled substance in a school zone.
