AFFTON, Mo. – Four people, including a teen girl who was expected to graduate high school, were found dead Friday after a domestic shooting in the St. Louis suburb of Affton.
Police spokesman Rick Eckhard stopped short of calling it a murder-suicide, but he said he wanted the people in the normally quiet neighborhood to know they were not in danger and that police believe it was an isolated domestic incident.
The victims were identified as Dennis Worden, 50, his wife, Dianna Worden, 44, and her two children, Brandon Greene, 26, and Emily Dreiman, 18.
Eckhard said the motive wasn't clear but the homicides apparently followed an argument inside the house where the four victims lived.
Officers were called to the home at 9:20 a.m. by concerned relatives. Several firearms were found inside the small but tidy one-story home near a park. Eckhard wouldn't say where in the home the bodies were found.
Dozens of neighbors milled around the police activity, many of them hugging and crying.
Dreiman was scheduled to graduate Friday night from Affton High School, according to Chelsea Clifton, 18, who said she was Dreiman's best friend.
"She was the girl that always had a smile on her face," Clifton said. "It's not fair that it happened to her. This isn't how she was supposed to leave this world."
Clifton also was also supposed to graduate Friday night from the high school but said she is too grief stricken to attend the ceremony. Clifton said Dreiman was an intelligent young woman and a former Girl Scout.
Eckhard said he wasn't aware of any previous calls to the home.
