ST. PAUL, Minn. – A Minnesota Somali woman has identified a man thought to have been involved in a suicide bombing in Somalia as her stepson, Farah Mohamed Beledi (beh-LEE'-dee).
Mumina Roba looked at a picture of the alleged bomber Tuesday and said through an interpreter: "It is him."
The FBI couldn't confirm Roba's identification because a spokesman said they have not yet positively identified the man involved in last week's bombing in Mogadishu. Two African Union troops and one government soldier were killed.
Beledi is among more than 20 men believed to have left Minnesota to join the terror group al-Shabab in Somalia, and was indicted on several terrorism-related charges.
The terror group al-Shabab said last week that the bomber was 25-year-old Abdullahi Ahmed of Minneapolis, but authorities couldn't confirm that name.
