CUPERTINO, Calif. – A limestone quarry that was the scene of a killing spree has reopened.
The Texas-based company that owns Lehigh Southwest Cement plant in Cupertino said in a statement Monday that workers were attempting to make the plant fully operational within a week.
Police say Shareef Allman opened fire on co-workers at the quarry last Wednesday, killing three people and wounding six others.
Allman was killed the next day when three deputies found him crouching behind a vehicle and displaying a handgun in a threatening manner.
Allman's friends and family were stunned by the killings, saying he had been a respected member of the African-American community.
Allman, a truck driver at the plant, had complained of racial discrimination.
