DICKENS, Texas – A vintage airplane has crashed in West Texas, leaving three people dead.
Federal Aviation Administration spokesman Lynn Lunsford says the 1946 Stinson 108 crashed into a field in Dickens County early Sunday afternoon.
Lunsford told The Associated Press on Monday that the accident killed the pilot and two passengers. Nobody else was on board.
The names of the deceased have not been released. FAA records show the plane is registered to a man from Dickens, about 50 miles east of Lubbock.
Lunsford says the single-engine aircraft was flying from a private airfield near Dickens to Rockdale, about 370 miles away, when it crashed.
The owner of the field discovered the still-smoldering wreck at 1 p.m.
