No words adequately describe the devastation that the earthquake wrought in Haiti on 12th January 2010. Therefore I was happy to hear that FASHIONAIR and the fashion industry have come together in the above video together to support Haiti.

The American fashion industry helmed by the CFDA (Council of Fashion Designers of America), has pulled together to organize an amazing initiative. It’s objective is to raise monies for the victims of the natural disaster.

They have launched the “Fashion for Haiti” T-shirt. The T-shirt design has a black and lime green logo which features the tagline “Hope Help Heal Haiti” underneath a block design of “To Haiti With Love,” with a map of the nation standing in for the word “Haiti.”

The “Fashion for Haiti” T-shirt logo was designed by Peter Arnell. He designed the iconic mended heart logo in 2001 for the “Fashion for America” fundraiser, organized by the CFDA and Vogue magazine. The fundraiser raised $2 million for the Twin Towers Fund.

Members of the fashion industry such as Diane Von Furstenberg (President of CFDA), Rachel Roy, Christian Costa, Vera Wang, Theory, Ralph Lauren etc are seen in the above video by FASHIONAIR wearing the ‘Fashion for Haiti’ T-shirt.

Diane Von Furstenberg is quoted to have said “The tragedy in Haiti has affected everyone and most of us individually have given money for relief,” “However, I think it is now important to send a message and create a channel for funding from fashion as an industry.”

I love that the industry has banned together to use its influence for such amazing cause. It is inspring to hear their thoughts on the Haiti devastation.

All proceeds will go to the Clinton Bush Haiti Fund. The Fund is raising funds for immediate, high-impact relief and long-term recovery efforts.

The T-shirt is to be manufactured by Theory (coordinated by CFDA) under the “Fashion for Haiti” label.

The $25 T-shirt will go on sale on February 16. It be available in women’s and men’s styles at retailers nationwide as well as online at CFDA
