Alejandro Ingelmo Spring 2013 Installation In Collaboration With Sheila Pepe
Video by PotsNPans
I have always been fascinated with processes. As wonderful as a design is or end product, nothing fascinates me more than the process of how it came to be.
This time laspe video documents the installation of his SS13 Collection at The Standard in collaboration with artist Sheila Pepe.
Ingelmo who is of shoemaking pedigree (he is fourth generation of a Cuban shoemaking family and the proud customs and traditions passed on through his family’s shoemaking heritage is evident in his work) has become known for craftsmanship, construction and structure.
I like how the collaboration between him and Pepe not only shows the process behind the installation but includes their love for family narrative. Pepe incorporates shoelaces in her work which reference her Italian immigrant Grandfather who opened a shoe repair and hat cleaning companies in New York an New Jersey.
Look closely and the you see key styles from Ingelmo’s spring 2013 collection in the video short too.
Sometimes the process is just as fascinating as the actual result.
