Vintage crinkle sheer shirt, h&m dress worn as skirt, sheer leggings, boob tube, Frye boots, Topshop necklace.
Sunday 18th July 2010.
My clothes work over time for the closet space they take up. Re-purposing is the name of the game and I explore as many ways to wear each item.
This skirt started life as a dress in H&M. I scored it for £5 many sale moons ago. I have always preferred it worn as a skirt. I affectionately call it my skirt dress. Today I woke up in the mood for something lightweight. So I pinned to the side to enable it’s individual floaty layers to show. It has an interesting manner about it. When I’m wearing it, it feels so light that I feel nude.
Birds of a feather…
I thought I’d push it’s seemingly weightless mood further by pairing it with the sheer crinkled vintage shirt and a pair or white sheer tights that I chopped into cropped leggings.
Constant contradictions
Weirdly I could not bare the thought of a girly, fragile heel with this look. Maybe it is due to my unconscious constant hankering for contradictions. Or perhaps it is due to the fact that I have never been an all out girly girl style wise, which my choice of hair cut no doubt testifies to. I just like something a tad uncouth, rough and aggressive with all the delicate softness of the garments. Alice the Frye boots came to the rescue, giving the outfit that bit of grit. Topped off with coral lipstick and my multiple stacked rings and cuffs, I was good to go.

(but with an obvious edge!)
I love the way you styled the dress as a skirt, and I actually think it looks better that way! The ruching in the front makes it look more interesting as a skirt than a regular dress, in my opinion. Lovely outfit as usual!
