Vintage bustier, crushed silk harem pants, Topshop vest, multiple stack rings, mix of cuffs, Genevieve Jones necklace and Zara open toe wedge boots.

Thursday 29th July 2010.

I love you, I hate you, I love you…

I have a love hate relationship with certain garments in my wardrobe. Take this floaty maxi cotton jacket for instance, which was a piece I found in a thrift shop. It was on a rail hanging with it’s grey identical twin as seen here. I bought the both of them for £15 each. They are not vintage but had their tags cut out so I have no idea who made them. The bespoke pieces get a lot of love when I wear them. I adore their volume and length but abhor that I get people trying to buy them off my very back.

On Thursday as I walked passed Oxford Circus tube station, a woman stopped me and after finding out where I bought them, offered me £300 for the jacket. I politely declined. It must have been the zillionth time I’d been stopped in reference to the garment that day. A few lovely people asked at the Fashion Business Meeting which I covered here.

Spotlight on underwear.

I threw the jacket over a vest which I’d worn under the vintage bra bustier. I liked the nude colour tones of the underwear piece with the Topshop vest. The significant other, (poor guy!) was slightly perturbed by the lingerie trend. He did not quite get the lingerie as outerwear to say the the least. He quite rightly thought I’d gotten the order of the vest and corset the wrong way round and asked “Marian, should your bra not be under the top? Baby you have worn it the wrong way round…”

I can fly

I was in garment heaven on Thursday in these oyster crushed silk harem pants. They are another bespoke thrift find. They are wonderfully soft and light. They feel like you are wearing a pair of silk pajama pants. In them paired with the floaty jacket, I felt like I wafting about like a gust of wind.

I’m not surprised that people want to buy that coat off you, it’s so unique and beautiful and it must be so amazing to see it trail behind you like in that first picture! Too bad you have no idea who made them, it’s a shame because I’m sure a lot of people would be clamouring to get hold of the designer now!

Love what your boyfriend said about the corset (it looks wonderful by the way) and I guess it’s defintiely a trend that not everyone understands!
