Vintage jumpsuit, gifted Clothing at Tesco’s Florence & Fred Couture micro sequin jacket,Gucci belt, Primark shoes and gifted Genevieve Jones necklace.

No Fuss
I was in the mood for an effortless one piece when I got dressed on Thursday. It was a day of work appointments ( press day previews, styling appointments etc) and two social events in the evening. So I wore the Clothing at Tesco’s Florence & Fred couture jacket (pictured in image of me standing next to a robot friend at UNIQLO press day) to make the day’s sedate jumpsuit dressy enough for the evening’s engagements too.
I talked about the Clothing at Tesco’s Florence & Fred collection and launch in detail here.
Magpies are drawn to shine
At the launch each guest was told they could pick a complimentary piece from the collection. I picked the crop sequin jacket in image above.
The collection was not to personal taste but I remember thinking that the jacket looked like a versatile piece.
I was attracted to it’s shine; due to an all over tiny sequin exterior. I also liked it’s cut and the volume in it’s sleeves.
It arrived by post a little while ago and Thursday was the first time I wore it.
The majority gets the vote
I always think the majority reaction to a piece gets the vote. The jacket totally gets my vote because nearly everyone I spoke to yesterday asked what brand my jacket was. A client at an afternoon styling appointment asked to try it on. Two perfect strangers came up to me on London’s busy Oxford street to ask what designer it was and so on and so forth.
At the Grace Jones by Chris Levine exhibition opening, three women came over to me to coo over it and a fourth shyly asked to try said jacket on.
Nearly everyone was shocked when I revealed it was the new couture line of a supermarket clothing range for £90.
I think it did a good job of keeping me smart enough for my day appointments but glam enough for the evening.
Here is to experimenting tons more with it.

Ahhh! That jacket slays me!
I just wanted to pop over and thank you for entering the giveaway for my Karma Cards on the Daisy Chain blog. We have a few sets left if you’re still keen! (cough, shameless self-promotion, cough)
I love the jacket! But personally, I nearly had to give a woman a beatdown a few years ago when she kept asking to try on my jacket!
Nice belt and sequin jacket.
It’s lovely on you, quite a nice sleeve actually. They cooed over your smile, I think. Love the robot: it would be so nice to have one to bring coffee to bed in the morning and hit the lights at nights. Someday … and that odd little Roomba robot vacuum is not the same thing.
I like a lot that Fred Couture jacket!
I do love that jacket… but can we please talk for a minute about the megatron standing behind you? Lol, maybe it’s because I’m such a dork, but he kind of stole the show for me. Sorry Marian’s new jacket.
Hi there-you picked a gorgeous piece from the collection, so stylish and it looks lovely!
cute style I love the sequin jacket ^^
Wow really someone asked to try on your jacket, that you didn’t know ha ha! Gosh I think that would have freaked me out a bit! xx
The jacket is you for sure! I love the fact that you are an expert at layering. I enjoy layering looks too, and I’ve learned quite a bit from you.
You are more than generous, my dear, allowing others to try on your jacket. I would be hard pressed to even ask someone to allow me to do that. I’ve had looks that could kill by simply asking someone where they’ve gotten certain pieces from (for fear that I’ll run right out and buy it, I suppose).
Have a wonderful Sunday, my lovely.
Hi all, happy sunday to all!
Thank you for your thoughts xx
Sarah – Thanks for letting me know hun xx
WendyB – hehhehe you are too funny Mrs B!
Tiffany – Thanks Tiff!
Madeleine – hehhee yes it would be nice having a robot bring one tea in bed.
Karolinka – It is a cute jacket, I will be putting it to the test some more.
Robyn – hhehe the Robot was at UNIQLO’s press day. Do not mind it taking the limelight at all hehehee
Sharon – Thanks honey!
Lenka – I like the mini sequins all over it too.
Pearl – weirdly being asked to try the jacket does not freak me out at all, I guess its because they all broached me in such a friendly manner, conversations about garments/trends/labels with strangers can be the most fun
Cheryl – Darling thank you for your lovely comment. I get those ‘if looks could kill’ looks too when I ask random folk about pieces they are wearing but I think it’s a shame to be honest but I can understand. I usually say “oh sorry to be so random and forward but it’s the fashion writer/personal stylist in me…..”
big kiss to all!
xoxo
marian.
I’ve had this black beaded vest from French Connection in my closet for YEARS now and still haven’t worn it. I think I’m going to have to bookmark your post and use it as a styling guide for my vest.
well after this, I should think nothing of falling down stairs
love that belt always, and the shape of your silhouette is amazing! hope youve been well!
