Object Of My Affection // Mina Evans

Meet my current object of affection.

Designed by Ghana’s Mina Evans-Anfom of the feminine Mina Evans label, it caught my eye as I looked through the runway images of her FINURA (meaning ‘finesse’ in Spanish) collection (the collection won the designer at the inaugural Glitz Africa Fashion Week).

It is wonderful when a design encapsulates a current mood while staying true to a specific brand identity. It is even better when it manages to tick both these boxes but also seems easily wearable.

The skirt is the stuff that line the Edwardian dreams that must have inspired collections like Giles, Burberry Prorsum and Louis Vuitton. The first showed a dress that could easily be in the same collection as the skirt above.

I like that Evans balances out the full skirt with the cropped top. This skirt would look just as great with a while shirt.
A great piece is timeless and this look will be relevant long after the fall winter 2012 Edwardian trend is gone.
