Dolls by Andrew Yang, Images from The Block magazine, Photography by Dan Forbes and Prop Styling by Thom Driver.
Andrew Yang, an artist and former Dennis Basso design employee has had me drooling with his darkly surreal (everything from cyclops to siamese twins) handmade doll collection for some time now. The somewhat creepy Kouklitas doll collection is wonderfully detailed. My favourite is his two headed doll, ‘Cora and Clarice’.
Yang was recently commissioned by The Block magazine , to re-create our favourite looks from Spring/Summer 2010 catwalks.
Looks including those by Rick Owens, Ann Demeulemeester, Givenchy, Comme Des Garçons etc are modelled by 24 inch rag dolls. How sick is the Gareth Pugh? Check out the epic long braid!
The above images are part of an editorial by Dan Forbes. Look out for the upcoming issue of The Block for the full editorial.
The issue will be available to buy from Opening Ceremony .
The Proenza Schouler and Comme Des Garçons wearing dolls have refuelled my candy coloured hair filled daydreams.
The dolls ranging from about $600 will be available from Yang’s Kouklitas site.
Yang’s supermodel rag dolls kick Barbie’s golden looks to the curb. The dilemma will be choosing which one to buy.

I want that Ann Demeulemeester doll right now. They are so beautiful and he does a great job of recreating the looks in doll form.
OH my god I love these!! So much work must have gone into creating them
Stunning.
Love Grace.
I want these dolls asap.
Absolutely amazing! I used to do soft sculpture years ago when I was off from work due to a back injury. These creations make me want to get back to it.
Fabulous post, my love. So happy you stopped by.
Ah! These are so stunning in such a disturbing/creepy way. Too bad I can’t even bring myself to spend $600 on clothes let alone a doll!
Those dolls are a little creepy, but completely amazing at the same time!
I love the Lanvin and the Proenza best. so awesome.
