Catwalks are to comic strip as designers are to comic artists.
Couldn’t you just see Miuccia’s flame emblazoned garments, Wendy’s cartoon like letter ring, Ricardo’s Rottweilers and pansy, Phillip’s Ka-Pow jacket on a modern day super-heroine?
Comics come alive in exaggerated shapes, cartoon inspired color palettes, action prints and 3d forms.

For fall 2011-2012 right into summer 2012 shine is doing just that, shining.
Lame at Toshop Unique spring 2012 by way of Cleopatra’s Egypt meets the sporty 90′s. Gilded unapologetic 24K gold at Frida’s Gucci for spring 2011. Miuccia’s glitter heels are having a sparkly moment. At Roberto Cavalli and Alexander McQueen it was molten gold.

I do not know about you but I have an affectionate place in my heart for backpacks.
Nothing else quite fuses my memories of school and my ever-present wanderlust so well.
The backpack is my bag of choice when I trudge through climes that I had longed to see, hear and taste.
I have this tattered vintage leather one that belongs in the happy apex of the 90′s minimalist by way of downtown sportluxe edge that Alexander Wang and Helmut Lang do so well.
That bag saw and smelt lands like the Serengeti. Where I went, it went. The memories I carried from those places, it carried.
It harks back to a similar backpack that I had in school. The algebra, art, science and literature I absorbed in the confines of the classroom, it absorbed as well.
The humble backpack is having a moment. Seeing that fashion is referencing far flung locations, more now than ever, the backpack makes a strong case. Take the resurgence of the athletic sports luxury and it clear wins its case.

It appears leather and fur are no longer delegated to just winter. Leather in particular, featured heavily in the spring summer 2012 collection. It came in many guises (at Valentino it was used ingeniously in the evening wear) but a common thread was its lightness. The leather was so fine and butter soft it draped like silk.
