What do get when you pair nuts, bolts, claw spikes, metal plates and a smattering of innovation? These heels. These Nicholas Kirkwood for Rodarte spring summer 2010 heels never fail to get a wow out of me. They never get old for me. It’s futurism meets sci-fi meets warrior armour.

The nut of it all is they are abso-freaking-lutely epic. Nicholas Kirkwood and the Mulleavy sisters of Rodarte come together to form a collaborative genius.

Drool over them at Opening Ceremony and Luisaviaroma

Prick me with a Safety Pin

I cannot get enough of safety pin earrings. There are quite a few on he market but adoring these two pairs. The stone embellished pair is by Genevieve Jones. Her ‘Wishing safety pin’ earrings come in a wide variety of stones and material. Tom Binns elongated ‘Classic gold safety pin’ pair are to drool for too.

I am still utterly besotted by Miu Miu spring summer 2010 line up. The child meets woman collection is so Lolita! Who knew smocking, giant sequins, sheer, cat+dog+naked women prints would work so delightfully together?! These close ups from backstage at the show are dreamy. I fell head over cats for the prints!

Oh Rodarte!

The details of the Rodarte autumn/winter 2010-2011 are a feast for the eyes. Dip dye crochet, fuzzy glory, embroidered sheers, patchworked delights, Nicholas Kirkwoods shoes, knits, desolate florals and I could go on.

Yesterday at 17:00GMT(12:00EST), while lounging on a clients sofa, I watched the live SHOWStudio stream of the Rodarte Autumn(Fall)/Winter 2010-2011 show.

Just before the collection hit the runway, candles were lit and confetti strewn on the catwalk.

Then the collection that felt like a sleepwalkers dream, seemingly floated unto the catwalk to songs such as “Come Softly To Me” by The Fleewoods and “Sleep Walk” from Rock Instrumental Classics (Volume 1 : The Fifties).

The mood was a return from their recent savage and horror inspired collections. This line-up was ethereally soft in feel and its palette, nude.

The Mulleavy sisters did not disappoint; crochet knits, patch-worked shearling garments with protruding tufts of fur, embellished sheer leg-wear, epic Nicholas Kirkwood designed lace front shoes with heels that looked like melting wax, tartan prints, draped and twists features in garments, garments intricately pieced in seeming bandaged effect, dreamy silk chiffons, contrasting prints, macramé, ethnic Mexican embroidery and so much more.

At the end of the show the Kirkwood heels glowed eerily in the candle lit dark.

In a post show interview, the Mulleavy sisters cited their inspiration. It was a mix of exploring their Mexican roots, sleepwalking, desolation etc.

Watch the stunning catwalk video here.
