The Nail Polish Files // Models Own Car Key Nail Polish Collection Versus Les Khaki De Chanel Collection

Wednesday, September 22nd, 2010

It was only a matter of time, till there were doppelganger shades of Chanel’s Khaki collection as featured here.
.
Makeup brand, Models Own, have created a nail collection that pays hommage to Chanel’s Khaki collection. The similarities do not just stop at the colours of each nail shade in the 3 piece collection, the name ‘Car Key’ sounds similar to the Chanel counterpart.

The collection consists of ‘Grace Green,’ a mossy pastel green, a beige shade called ‘Becca’s Brown’ and a dusky rose called ‘Purple Ash’.

Seeing that each of the shades retail for £5, will you be tempted to buy a Models Own ‘Car Key’ colour instead of Les Khaki de Chanel range?

The ‘Car Key’ range launches in October and will be available to purchase instore at Boots or online.

The Nail Polish Files // Chanel Particuliere

Wednesday, February 10th, 2010

The beauty people at Chanel beauty labs seem to know the magic formula to creating mania raising nail polish.

Their waiting list causing Jade shade has barely dried on our nails and there is already a new kid on the block.

Meet Chanel’s Particuliere
Get to know her, because this darlings, is the colour we will all be cooing over before the summer starts. Particuliere for £16 is a peculiar grey, meets off beige colour. Think a mushroom meets taupe colour meets clayish meets your cup coffee sort of shade.

It all began when models wore the shade at Chanel’s spring/summer 2010 show. At the show, British singer Lily Allen was also spotted wearing the colour.

No sooner did the show snaps hit the internet and the Chanel nail polish shade was creating nail envy.

Rihanna, Lauren Conrad, Eva Mendes etc have all been seen sporting similar nail colour.

Get the look too with the below nail products.

Butter London in Fash Pack, £10.

I have my eye on the OPI polish. How fun is the shade name? I am sucker for a great nail lacquer name.

I am positively addicted to nail polish. Lately I am wearing as much as two colours a day (crazy I know!). My nail colour changes as fast as my outfits do. It is almost ridiculous that last month my nail polish bill was up there with the dry cleaning bill.

Anyone know of a support group for nail lacquer addicts? If not, anyone out there looking to join one? I am currently rocking Black Cherries by Rimmel. My second, ahem I mean third, nail shade of the day.

Till that Nail Lacquer Addicts Anonymous group has its first meeting, I will be crushing on the shades below. Each shade is by yummy Brit based company, Nails Inc.

Love how each is shade is named after an important London landmark!

Obsessions : January

Wednesday, January 6th, 2010

For the first month of 2010 I am completely fixated on…

1. Dolce & Gabbana’s wedges.

Images Style.com

Dolce & Gabbana’s Fall/Winter 2009 collection was full of surreal 40′s glam details. The suede wedges were in keeping with the 40′s feel. The embellishment on them is divine! How amazing are the ruffled pair? The first pair are fabulous,a pearl it is encasing shell.Heart!

2. Ear Cuffs

Images- Marios Schwab from Vogue.co.uk, Repossi from Myspecialstash.blogspot.com, Alexander Wang from Fashiontoast.com and Vintage ear cuff from Nasty Gal

There is something about ear cuffs that I find compelling. I think in present times this 80′s fad is done right when it has the right balance of the ethnic influence and the conceptual. The clip variety is convenient seeing that my lobes are unpierced.

3. Lounge Lover

Images Net-A-Porter.com

This label makes the best lounge wear ever! I should know, I wear it constantly. Each piece is baby soft(jerseys, cashmeres in a neutral palette of grey, black, tan etc). It is perfect for remaining chic while relaxing. The two can co-exist. The long sleeve jersey top is amazing it has thumb holes which is a rad plus to any piece. Sylvie Gabriel the gorgeous designer behind the label believes in an ‘easy chic ethos which totally works.

4. The Dries Van Noten Sweater

Images Style.com and google images

I don’t know if I have ever seen a more perfect sweater. This Dries Van Noten design from his Autumn/Winter 2009-2010 collection has been stalking my dreams! The slouchy grungey cut, the delish colour, the fuzzy texture…
I could go on and on.

5. Epic Green Nail Lacquer

Images – Dickweed by BLEACH BLACK from Needsupply.com, O.P.I rainforest from Polyvore.com, Butter London from Blogher.com and Nails Inc from Debenhams.com

There is green nail polish and there is green nail polish. Before I confuse you let me make myself clear by saying the latter is usually epic, slightly other worldly and abso-freaking-fabulous. I was all over green nail in high school like a rash. It had to be a dark ambigious vampy green and that love is still burning today.

“Dickweed” by Kristin and Val of rad conversational LA based Fashion diary blog BLEACH BLACK is perfect. It is one part Malachite green, one part Beetle green and all parts lust inducing. The limited edition polish is available at Need Supply.

Another fave is “Thames” by fab London nail polish company, Butter LONDON. I love the hue, the fact that the colour is free from harmful carcinogens. The packaging is great.

London based Nail Inc’s “Kensington Palace” is a wonderful mix of bottle green and an inky petrol blue shade. I am addicted to it.

American Apparel nail it

Sunday, December 27th, 2009

Images from American Apparel.
Nail shades from top row- Image of all shade options, “Manila”, “Berry Berry”,”Office”,”Poppy”,”Hassid”,”Coney Island” and “Hunter”.

American Apparel, the LA based retailer known for their body-conscious vibrant mono colour blocking basics now have a nail polish line.

The collection of 18 bold shades is quite sentimental to the brands history. One of my favourites is “Office” a jade meets minty green shade named for the colour found on the accounting notepads at the companys headquarters.

Buy the lacquers which retail at £5($6) a pop online or in American Apparel stores.
