Obsessions : October

Wednesday, October 6th, 2010

A new month brings a new set of obsessions.

This season, leopard print has been interpreted in a variety of fun new ways. These in your face pink Senso booties are for girls who just want to have fun.

Expect to wear this midi length Next knit dress threadbare. Priced at £50 it at a great price point.

Luxurious glamour should be Tom Ford’s middle name. First he wowed us with his glamorous high fashion, then his decadent perfumes and lastly he launched a high end of lipsticks called the ‘Private Blend’ collection as featured here. Now you can get your fashion paws on his limited edition Black Orchid collection. It consists of his perfume of the same name, in a pressed compact form, a must have nail shade and a lip shade also named for the perfume.

Stay warm and stylish in this Miss Selfridge faux fur cape.

Iced biscuits by Biscuiteers have a way of charming their way into your heart. With designs to suit every occasion, you will be spoilt for choice. My favourite is the ‘Hot Pants’ tin which has 37 iced biscuits in the form of lingerie.

Stand out in distinctive style in this tubular necklace from Maria Francesca Pepe’s autumn winter 2010 collection.

Iris Apfel is like an exotic creature of paradise. She throws textures, accessories and colours together with such punch. ‘Rare Bird of Fashion: The Irreverent Iris Apfel’ by Eric Boman first published by Thames & Hudson in 2007, is for every enthusiast of personal style.

You have to admire Stella McCartney’s non use of leather and related products. Even more so, you have to admire that she creates products true to her convictions, that leave us wanting more. This Falabella chain-trimmed messenger bag is a fantastic case in point. It is just as worthy of being thrown on with a dressed up look as it with your favourite off duty outfit. It is the perfect bag.

Obsessions : September

Thursday, September 2nd, 2010

September has brought a longing for the return of the Pampered Vamp. Think vamp heels by Ruthie Davis, Burberry lace midi pencil skirt, luxuriating in the scent of decadent Apothia Los Angeles candles at the end or perhaps even start of your day.

Prada’s leopard print platforms win me over. They exude feline siren meets fifties housewife.

Red lipstick is the easiest way to glam up. Give a girl a great shade of red lipstick and she can go from wall flower to mega watt.

Diamonds may likely be beyond the strings of your purse, but at £23, consider Chanel’s creamy Rouge Coco in Gabrielle as your new best friend.

Every autumn I stock up on a few new pairs of leather pants. These Helmut Lang leather leggings are the perfect cut.

The first book from Browns, ‘Browns 40 years of Fashion‘ as edited by Isaac Lock would make a good read while you languidly lounge.
