The 1000 strong guest list including Janet Jackson, Noisettes stunning lead singer Shingai Shoniwa, Caroline Sieber, Anouck Lepere, The Missapes, Rupert Everett, Diego Della Valle, Stephen Dorff and Jefferson Hack etc celebrated the launch of Karl Lagerfeld’s spring summer 2011 capsule collection for Hogan.

The event saw the unveiling of the spring summer 2011 capsule collection for Hogan by Karl Lagerfeld. Lagerfeld has designed 6 key pieces; a dressy sneaker, a cowboy boot, a trench coach, a jacket, a messenger bag and a clutch. The collection with unexpected twists ( the sneaker has a bracelet at the ankle and the trench coat changes into a jumpsuit) is a fusing of Karl’s vision and the Hogan ideal.

The capsule range was launched hand in hand with a film as conceived and directed by Lagerfeld. Entitled ‘La Lettre’ it stars models Magdalena Frackowiak and Baptiste Giabiconi.

As guests mingled and nibbled on canapes, models wearing pieces from the range rode amongst attendees on Hogan bicycles.

Is it just me or was Karl Lagerfeld thinking Yeti meets Polar bear when it came to the Chanel autumn winter 2010 – 2011 collection?

The shaggy faux fur suits and boots were totally cave creature meets glacial bear.

Chanel Spring 2010 Couture

Images from Style.com

Karl Lagerfeld showed an uncharacteristic Chanel Couture collection yesterday. The seemingly futuristic line-up was devoid of black, a Lagerfeld signature.

The palette was white, pastels( pale pink, minty green, princess blue etc) with accents of metallic silver. The collection of shift dresses, cullote short suits, and ruffled cocoon shaped cocktail gowns etc. There were maxi length gowns; a notable was a slinky Grecian toga style design.

I love how Karl Lagerfeld has fused everything marvellous about Chanel (the iconic signature boucle suits, the drool inducing dreamy gowns and all the embellishment ie bows, silver threaded embroidery, crystal detailing etc) with a feel of the future perfect.

The embellished heart meets humongous bow hair and the baroque goes futuristic silver footwear is genius.

This collection embodies all that I adore about Couture; the surreal world it creates, that utterly fantastic decadent escape from the ordinary.

V magazine’s January 2010 “Size Issue” is oozing with the delicious curves of smouldering plus-size model Crystal Renn and other gorgeous plus- size models. Not that I consider them plus-size myself, I like to call their more realistic body types, ‘average size’.

“Big, little, pint-size, plus-size — every body is beautiful. And this issue is out to prove it,” editor-in-chief of V magazine Stephen Gan says.

Crystal Renn who recently released a book entitled Hungry was shot by Karl Lagerfeld for the issue.

In another editorial as shot by Terry Richardson, Crystal Renn is paired against shots of a traditonal catwalk model Jacquelyn Jablonski in a piece that depicts both modeling the exact same looks as styled by Mel Ottenberg. The piece seeks to prove that both body types are beautiful.

Renn who is featured on the right hand side in all images in this editorial looks amazing!

‘The Curves Ahead’ editorial features the ‘average-size’ models shot in various states of undress. Shown in the first two images in post.

To see the full editorials and the issue of V magazine buy it when it hits at a news stand near you on January 14th.
