Gladiator battle rags had a gold foil makeover on the Rodarte spring summer 2011 runway. I cannot help but cheekily wonder, if they were watching Ridley Scott’s Gladiator starring Russell Crowe, when they stitched this gold dress together?

Is it just me or was Karl Lagerfeld thinking Yeti meets Polar bear when it came to the Chanel autumn winter 2010 – 2011 collection?

The shaggy faux fur suits and boots were totally cave creature meets glacial bear.

The John Galliano for Christian Dior autumn winter 2010 haute couture was all blooms and florist wrap.

Is it just me or did each look that wafted down the runway looked like a wonderfully crafted flower wrapped in cellophane florist wrap all turned upside?

Case in point…

The first look to hit the runway (as seen in fashion equation) was a purple tulip shaped number on a model sporting a Stephen Jones headpiece that looked like pink florist’s plastic wrap. Invert the look in your mind’s eye and it looks like a purple tulip wrapped up in pink florist plastic wrap.

A quick browse through all the exquisite dresses and well crafted garments in the collection felt like a walk through a home garden show. From pansies, to daffodils, parrot tulips to giant roses and much more, the Dior couture show was a bloom!

I adore how much detail there is in each exquisite creation. The colour palette is what dreams are made off. I can only imagine the number of man hours went into each piece. They look incredibly life like.

I wonder what my local florist would make of the bouquet wrap as headgear look?…

What do you get when you blend a colour loving My Little Pony with some hair? Hair in all rainbow shades that is what! I talked about crushing on pastel hair some time back here.

It seems the love affair keeps burning stronger.

Model Abbey Lee Kershaw is as babydoll like as it gets already with her large doe eyes and chin cleft. With the pink hair tips on Vogue Australia’s March 2010 issue she looked even more so. I thought I had seen it all candy hair colour wise till I spotted Karlie Kloss with bright orange hair as photographed by Patrick Demarchelier in American Vogue.

Whether you call it My Little Pony hair, pastel hair, rainbow hair, icecream or bubblegum pop hair something tells me it is here to stay for a while. I wonder what the sugary hair strand trend will mutate into next.

What do get when you pair nuts, bolts, claw spikes, metal plates and a smattering of innovation? These heels. These Nicholas Kirkwood for Rodarte spring summer 2010 heels never fail to get a wow out of me. They never get old for me. It’s futurism meets sci-fi meets warrior armour.

The nut of it all is they are abso-freaking-lutely epic. Nicholas Kirkwood and the Mulleavy sisters of Rodarte come together to form a collaborative genius.

What do you get when you cross baby soft coloured ice cream, candy floss and candy?

Spring/Summer 2010′s pastel filled collections, that’s what!

From Christopher Bailey for Burberry Prorsum’s draped young sophisticate collection, Valentino’s elegance right through to Viktor & Rolf’s surreal line up.

I like that soft shades have been used in varying moods from the girly ingenue, glamorous to the strong.

For this look I will re-shopping my existing closet. We all have some soft hued garments hanging in our wardrobes somewhere.

The trick with this trend like all others is to make it work for you.

An unapologetic girly girl? Well make like a piece of candy and shimmy into head to toe pastels. Keep it interesting like Luella’s girl and pair different candy floss coloured garments together. Do not be afraid to throw your baby blues with those coral, soft yellows and so forth.

Wear a pastel hair or an ombre hair shade seen here.

Think pastels are for 6 year old girls and younger? A peek of baby soft wont hurt you. I promise! Join the party by rocking a small piece in your outfit or accessories.

The above Fashematic (fashion maths) was so inevitable, it was itching to happen. As soon as I saw Balenciaga autumn/winter 2010-2011 collection, I thought the shoes look like Lego’s blocks!

It is something to do with their dismountable looking structure. I am enamoured with the fact that each shoes looks like the sole and heel look like the can be prised apart and then slotted back together.

The 70’s bright palette meets the angular parts of each loafer/brogue meets Nicolas Ghesquière ridiculously ingenious forays into technological innovation make for shoes that are one part toy and all parts art.
