Vintage denim shirt, vintage orange leather shorts, Michel Klein for La Redoute wedge shoes, vintage necklac, stacked rings, multiple bangles and cuffs.

Opposites attract

I always seem to gravitate towards the most obscure pieces in vintage shops. I like polar extremes; the reliable staples i.e in this case, my denim shirt. I also like downright objectionable; point in case, these orange vintage leather shorts.

Magnet forces

I have this thing I do in vintage and thrift shops, where I quickly survey the racks. I then closer inspect anything that jumps out at me. The shorts found me in this manner. It was magnet force at first sight.

The prom queen and the nerd

I wore them on Thursday and had the urge to slither into their orange glory again today. It was the juxtaposition of them against the jean shirt that appealed. Together it is trusty courts sheer wanton excess. Sort of like when your overlooked average Joe gets the Prom Queen. Garment opposites attract.

Vintage jean shirt, crop vintage leather vest, John Rocha trousers over leggings, Frye boots, multiple rings and stacked wristwear.

13th May 2010.

Awkward is good
I find the cut of these John Rocha pants intriguing. I was in the mood for their proportions and so I wore them over a pair of leggings.
I then threw on the vintage denim shirt and the cropped leather waistcoat. Alice the Frye boots was the finishing touch. I like ‘not quite there’ proportions put together; the Frye anke boots that are not quite ankle length, the awkward cut of the culotte like pants and the miniscule shrunken crop leather vest.

Power in numbers
They all just seem a tad more hopeful, brighter, bigger … when put together.
