After all tis the season to give all things glam…

Diego Dalla Palma // Winter 2011 dark violet
If there is a beauty brand to be had, I will stumble upon it. This Italian brand continues to keep me enthralled, this time with their winter 2011 nail palette. The dark purple and other shade friends will make for wonderful stocking fillers.

Fresh // Sugar Passion tinted lip treatment SP15
On my beauty speed dial this winter is Sugar Passion tinted lip treatment by Fresh. Based on sugar which is a natural humectant, the lip treatments by Fresh could be in the list of the thing that ever happened to lips. Sheer but with a rouge tint, this soothing lip balm also has an SPF 15 that keeps lips free from sun damage. If this does not make a chic stocking filler, nothing will.

Violent Lips // The Black & White checkered lip transfer
Violent Lips make me a very happy girl with their array of temporary lip tattoo transfers. Who says Lady Gaga and Nicki Minaj need be the ones having all the fun? Inspire loved ones to get creatively self expressive by filling their stocking with a Violent Lip transfer. A current favorite is the checker print. Pouts were never this much fun.

Currently Crushing On // United Colors Of Benetton Autumn Winter 2011

Thursday, September 29th, 2011

For autumn, United Colors of Benetton have these knits and snake skin prints that feel slightly nineties in their approach. There is a nostalgia about it all, a good nostalgia, that beckons.

Take the crop long sleeve as case in point, couldn’t you see it on Rachel in Friends or Cher in Clueless? I like clothes that recall great reference points and memories. I like them even better when I can see how that sense of dejavu, is still relevant in present day. Any of the above would be interesting paired with mannish tailoring.

With snake print, knits, heritage fabrics, oversize zany black and white rose prints, masculine suiting and textured faux fur, this is a collection with memorable elements.

Currently Crushing On // Marc Jacobs’ Favorite Things

Thursday, September 15th, 2011

As an ode to New York, New York Fashion Week and renowned designer, Marc Jacobs, I give you five of Marc Jacobs’ favorite things.

1. Waverly Inn

West Village, New York based eaterie is known to be one of Marc’s favorite places. Between the restaurant’s chef Eric Korsh, the nighttime scene and the romantically lit garden it is a winner.
More on it here.

2. The Gagosian Gallery

The world famous gallery has had exhibitions that have inspired Marc Jacobs’ collections. The Chelsea, New York based space currently has large scale sheet metal work by Richard Serra on display.
More on it here.

3. The Standard Hotel, New York.

Owned by Andre Balazs, the glass slab structure opened up in 2009 and has gone on to become one of Marc Jacobs’ favorite downtown hotels. Last year the designer chose the hotel as venue for his collection show after party.

4. BlackBerry

Marc Jacobs is a fan of the BlackBerry. Given how busy he must be, it is no surprise that the smartphone is on his list of favorite things.

Currently Crushing On // Tamzin Lillywhite Areion Bag Maria Francesca Pepe Two Finger Ring Balenciaga Loafer Wedge

Wednesday, August 31st, 2011

Tamzin Lillywhite
It was love at sharp spike when I spotted this bag by Tamzin Lillywhite. Lillywhite’s Areion bag has a lot going for it; the shape, the fact that it is handmade by Lillywhite, the even more glorious fact that only ten of this limited edition design have been made.
How fantastic is the contrast of the sparkle effect leather set against the soft bridle leather? Leather worker and accessories designer, Tamzin Lillywhite is one to watch.
Available here

Maria Francesca Pepe
Devoted to Maria’s work. This two finger ring from her Fortuna collection is just one of the many reasons why.
Available here.

Balenciaga
I never thought I’d see the day when a loafer meets wedge hybrid, would have my heart beating this fast.
Available here.

Diane Von Furstenberg
The Bernice coat by DVF is the possibly the coat of the season. It embodies the mannish mood that fall 2011 is all about. The drop waist captures the 1920′s meets 1940′s aura of the season. The bold hue is just an extra bonus to this wool blend and alpaca coat.

Currently Crushing On // Theyskens’ Theory

Friday, June 24th, 2011

This week it appears all my fashion crushes are by Belgian designer Olivier Theyskens. His collaboration with Theory seems to birth cool garment after cool garment. Everything always looks impeccably cut and effortlessly tailored. His knack is taken a basic and adding a directional face-lift to it.

Great case in point has to be the white cotton T-shirt. At first look it may be overlooked as your typical mundane T-shirt but look again and you notice the cropped front, the curved hems, the longer back and the well balanced drape.

This week I am crushing on Theyskens’s ability to inject contemporary cool into ordinary closet staples.
