I am always on the look out for new and emerging talent. Anita Quansah is one such talent you should know.
The designer studied textile design at Chelsea College of Art and Design London. `Her hand embroidered textile focused work (garments, jewellery and interior textiles) sees Quansah employ reclaimed, recycled and vintage fabrics and mixed metals in one off intricate designs.
Quansah’s jewellery ( a few as pictured in the first collage) includes elements such as ribbons, metals (oxidized silver, gold and gunmetal), fringing, pearls, ribbon and rhinestones etc
Quansah has added her unique embroidery on garments for design houses such as DKNY, Diane Von Furstenberg, Ischiko, Victoria Secret and Ecko. She has collaborated with textiles companies such as Weisbrod Zurrer and Sandy Starkman.
In 2004 she designed and embroidered a jacket which featured in the Christian Lacroix Haute Couture show.
The designer quotes art, architecture, fashion (both contemporary and vintage), music, creativity, travel, and nature as sources of inspiration for her work.
Her designs are synonymous with sophistication, femininity and ethnic chic and have been featured in the likes of German Vogue, British Vogue, Dare2magazine, Muse, German Tush and Vision etc.
Her one off pieces are available at My Sugarland , Not Just a Label and Shrimpton Couture.

The jewelry is fabulous! I really love the big necklaces. I plan on incorporating that element in my accessories line. Thanks for sharing. Embroidery is making a fierce comeback, but it’s not our grandmother’s embroidery. It’s fresh, funky and colorful.
Loving it!
I’m imagining myself wearing the black empire dress with with the coral beaded necklace.
Your presentation is wonderful. Ms. Quansah (what a beautiful name) has a strong sensibility with exquisite refinement and something light in the mix. Lovely … thank you for this.
