The film short as directed by Liam S Gleeson showcases their fall 2012 collection and marks their 20th anniversary. It was an honor to speak to the designers of the much loved London label about the concept behind the short and the makings of it. I posted on PPQ presents Blackout and you can watch it here. Please read on for more on it. 1. There is a duality to your autumn winter 2012 girl. She seems to be simultaneously demure and dark all at once. Would you say this is the case and who is your muse for this season? Yes that’s correct, and has been the case with all of our collections. It’s like being the cook, the thief, the wife and the lover. The many sides of a female. 2. How did you pool your concept into the ‘Blackout’ film short as made by Liam S Gleeson? We made a series of collage mood boards, which then became a storyboard and then became a film . We went to the pub and had an afternoon talking about our favorite shapes, cones triangles and sharp edges against. 3. In an era of fashion film, what was particularly important for you to convey in this short? That it isn’t just a moving Look Book, that it’s symbolic and gives an insight in to the dark side of our Femme. 4. Johnny Buttons is said to have designed the set. Could you share a bit about the set and the idea behind it? We gave Johnny the initial mood boards and he understood what we needed in terms of shapes and negative space . There are contrasts between textures, glitter, mirrors, sharp edges and soft chiffons. He built geometric changing screens and hexagonal mirrors to give a multi dimensional view amongst the warehouse space we filmed in. The room depicts a contrast to the socialite landscape. 5. The PPQ presents Blackout film in five words? A new wave PPQ femme. Many kind thanks to Amy and Percy of PPQ. More Five Minutes With interviews.
