Emma Bell is a London based fashion designer and creative consultant. Emma’s designs are way off the beaten track; with colourful, fantastical and flamboyant being her ethos.

Her work has included everything from cartoons, popcorn headpieces, sequins and sheen in infinite amounts, gingerbread men, superhero-esque proportions and a fantasy colour palette.

Emma’s designs has received press from the likes of Dazed and Confused, Elle Girl, WWD New York, Vice, The Daily Mail, WAD Paris, Time Out, Drapers, Super Super, Wonderland, Look Magazine, Notion, The Daily Express, Cosmopolitan, The Daily Mirror and lots more.

She has collaborated with a host of personalities and brands. One memorable one is her collaboration with Vauxhall motors, I loved the ‘Emma Bell for Vauxhall’ event which saw some of the cars get an Emma Bell makeover. Think Vauxhall cars embellished in giant mirror ball pieces, sweets etc. My favourite was the disco mirror one, seen below.

An Emma Bell design is like the perfect Wonderland garment.

Wonder what a day in Emma’s life is like? Read on to find out.

7.15am
Wakey Wakey! Time to get up and first port of call is checking my emails! I’m working with a client in the US at the moment so the emails seem to filter through during the night!

9.30am
Emails tended to, and it’s off into town via a Chai Latte stop off. It’s raining and I wish I hadn’t bothered battling with the straighteners! I’m wearing my new, amazing necklace that Locketship sent me all the way from LA! Woo!

11am
I’m meeting with one of my interns to go through a few bits and pieces for the new collection as well as picking up some extra special coloured wool for one of my latest pieces.

12pm
Meeting up with Alexis Knox at the Notion magazine office to go through all of my previous season’s samples and picking out some special outfits. A band that I LOVE called ‘Fan Death’ are flying in from the US today and will be wearing my stuff for their UK tour. So we package up a load of clothing and accessories for them and send it trotting off to their hotel, so it’s ready and waiting when they arrive!

2.30pm
Yummy lunch at Juno on Shoreditch High Street, my favourite, Halloumi stack! Gourmet!

3.30pm
It’s back on the emails pretty much for the duration of the afternoon! We are putting together media-packs for an upcoming project in Vienna that I am directing and this involves liasing with a million different people. In other news, got some proofs through from a couple of recent shoots which is exciting including my recent New York shoot with Raquel Reed as well as a nice bit of coverage from the Independent!

7pm
I’m finally sitting down to some serious hand-knitting…prepare for the blisters! One of the pieces I’m currently working on involves about a trillion individually knitted segments to create the overall textile before it can be cut and constructed into the garment, so that’s an ongoing scenario. I’m also going to whack out a completed pattern for the said item this evening!

9pm
Skype o’clock! A couple of hours of cyber-meeting with Polona, my co-curator for the Vienna exhibition to run through visuals, lay plans and how to make a fake beach! exciting stuff! Whipped up some fried rice….which I will eat with my extra special turquoise chop sticks and matching bowl!

12pm
I’m back on my knitting and scribbling some stuff in my journal with ‘Shameless’ on 40d in the background debating whether or not to go to sleep. Have to leave the house at 4am to fly to Denmark. Gallery International are bringing a few of us over to cover Copenhagen Fashion Week which I’m super excited about! I’ve never been and have heard the Little Mermaid lives there!

4am
En route to airport, decided against sleeping. Apparently its –12 degrees there.

Dear Marian, another fabulous 24inthelifeof – you have the knack for choosing just the right designers
edgy, fun, super-talented and quite interesting — I guess birds of a feather do flock together – as you
are certainly all of these qualitites yourself.

Emma sure has a passion for hello kitty. The chain mail gingerbread man is off the hook! Those pinkypink
pearls are delicious and will look stunning with your complexion and slim throat. oh my gosh – the turquoise
chopsticks and bowl sound to die for.

Now there’s a women who’s not afraid of color, and I love that! All black ensembles are lovely and all, but they rarely bring a smile to my face like vibrant colors can! :)

Thanks so much for your comment dear, I’m still job hunting (sort of slowly, I’ll admit, but does get awfully old, after time), but hopefully something will turn up soon! How’s everything been going in your life? Hope you are well! ♥
