trend spotter // ladylike bags

It is time to visit raid your Grandmothers bag collection. All about town I have noticed that the bag limelight has turn on your reliable Grandma bag.

The autumn winter 2010 – 2011 catwalks brought the return of the well turned out lady with nipped in waists, structured tailoring and the midi length skirt. Where would a real well dressed lady be without her structured prim bag?

The ladylike bag was a busy girl over that show season, making appearances at Marc Jacobs, Lanvin, Louis Vuitton, Dolce & Gabbana, Prada, Lanvin, Yves Saint Laurent etc.

Her distinguishing characteristics? Structured, retro/vintage inspired and prim.

I think it may be time to make a stop at my favourite vintage, charity and thrift shops. They normally stock a varied array of vintage bag for every girl. Going vintage is a great way of keeping things original while wearing this trend.

Will you be throwing her over your shoulder?

  4. I have an old Prada bag that’s in a similar rectangular shape as these above–it also has passementerie adornment so it’s not totally blah. These are great choices, Marian!

By the way, I am doing a $100 Shopbop giveaway on my blog if you’d like to sign up :)
