New African Fashion by Helen Jennings London launch party.

Performance by Ghanaian duo, Wanlov and Mensah of Fuckn Bois.

Editor of ARISE Magazine Helen Jennings launched her book, New African Fashion with a well attended affair at The Gallery Soho. This event marked the third leg of the launch festivities for the book. The first two being in Johannesburg, South Africa and Lagos, Nigeria.

The book which explores why Africa is having a moment in fashion. It also throws the spotlight on design and creative talent from Africa and the diaspora.

A 300 strong guest list (including likes of Shingai Shoniwa of The Noisettes, Sam Lambert, Omer Asim, Yasmin Warsame, attended the event from the worlds of fashion, art, photography, music, film etc.

Designs as donated by Duro Olowu, Tsemaye Binitie, Anita Quansah, Re Bahia, Angelo Van Mol, Deola Sagoe, Bestow Elan, Sam Lambert, Omer Asim and Maya Antoun. Nkwo, Buki Akib, Bunmi Koko, Joansu and Mo-saoïque towards the evening’s raffle, raised funds for the African-based female empowerment organisations, Kinabuti and the Flaviana Matata Foundation (founded by Tanzanian model Flaviana Matana who is featured in the book).
