Listed in the 100 greatest guitarists of all time by Rolling Stones, Vieux Farka Touré has been called the Jimi Hendrix of the Sahara.

Son of Grammy-winning Malian musician Ali Farka Touré performed with Alicia Keys, K’naan and Shakira at the official opening of the 2010 FIFA World Cup.

The above video for his All the same song featuring Dave Matthews is from his third studio album, The Secret.

Exorcising the Fear.

11th January – 3rd March 2012.

Pangolin London, Kings Place, 90 York Way, London, N1 9AG.

The Gallery Pangolin presents Exorcising the Fear. The exhibition examines post second world war sculpture in Britain and the artists that were instrumental in its revival.

It includes work from the 1950′s and 1960′s by Lynn Chadwick, Eduardo Paolozzi, Kenneth Armitage, Reg Butler, Geoffrey Clarke, Robert Adams, Bernard Meadows and William Turnbull.

The title of the exhibition Exorcising the Fear, takes its name from the XXVI Venice Biennale of 1952 which saw the sculptors gain international acclaim.

With a voice like Whitley’s that strips away to the very bone of it all, the starkness of Placek’s treatment is essential. Her voice is as strong as the force of the gust created with the high powered fans.

Object Of My Affection // Dead Man’s Patterns – Momento Mori By Hormazd Narielwalla

I’m continually inspired by subjects that are given new life outside of their usual contexts.

This is why the work of artist Hormazd Narielwalla fascinates me.

Bespoke tailoring patterns discarded by the tailor become the building blocks in Narielwalla’s paper collages.

Most recently for the Saatchi Online, his collage takes 3D form for the first time, in the shape of a skull.

It is an amalgamation of varying bespoke patterns no longer in use (due to owners being deceased).

There are those who are just special and truly so. Artist Hormazd Narielwalla belongs to that small sect of people.

At the St Martins Lane and Marian Kihogo for Mariankihogo 2nd anniversary dinner, artist Hormazd Narielwalla presented me with this surprise art piece.

This paper collage sees the artist continue in his exploration of positive and negative space.

He explained that the collage, which employs off-cuts (from tailoring patterns discarded onto the cutters workroom floor) is a depiction of me as a gold fairy. I am forever intrigued by how his work takes patterns out of its usual context.

I cannot thank Hormazd Narielwalla enough for this wonderful 2nd anniversary gift. I am particularly intrigued by the skirt of the dress which is the coming together of pattern remnants. My eye is also continually drawn to my profile and my back. Each time I look at the collage (which has pride of place in my abode) I am taken to the memories of that anniversary night.

No one quite wore a bare foot, languid finger waves, bedecked jeweled rings and dark rich nail lacquer quite like you.

Placed in an orphanage at 10, she went on to international acclaim and laudable awards (multiple KORA awards and a Grammy award).

Évora is proof, if there ever was any, that your genesis and past do not determine your future.

Rest in peace bare foot diva, rest in peace Cesária Évora.

Cape Verde and the world at large has lost a bright star.

Juicy Couture, Selfridges London.

Illustrator, writer and designer Daisy de Villeneuve has become known for her felt tip illustrations. They have featured in her books, exhibitions and collaborations with the likes of Victoria & Albert Museum, Nike, Topshop, Transport for London etc.

Her latest collaboration is will Juicy Couture. It will see de Villeneuve draw, colour and sign one of three designs for any customers who make a purchase from Juicy Couture in Selfridges on Thursday 15 December, between 4pm -8pm.
